Blue Earth is a city located in Faribault County, Minnesota, at the confluence of the east and west branches of the Blue Earth River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,621. It is the county seat of Faribault County6. It is home to a statue of the Jolly Green Giant.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.2 km2 (3.2 mi2). 8.2 km2 (3.2 mi2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
